Since its restoration, the Grand Palais is once again the centre of the Paris art calendar: Art Basel Paris fills the Nave in October, Paris Photo follows in November, and Art Paris opens the spring season. Around each fair, the city runs on a tight circuit of previews, gallery openings, private viewings and dinners in the 8th. A chauffeur booked by the hour lets you move between them without hailing, parking or waiting in the rain — the car is simply there when you step out.

Collectors & advisors

Unmarked Mercedes, chauffeurs who know which door to use and who never ask what you bought.

Galleries & press

Runs between booth, gallery and hotel for your team, artists and journalists, billed to one account.

Airport & private jet

Flight-tracked meet & greet at CDG and Orly, FBO pickups at Le Bourget for collectors flying in for the preview.

We collect international collectors from CDG, Orly or Le Bourget, keep a chauffeur by the hour for the whole circuit, and cover galas and openings through our event service. Our base is on the Champs-Élysées, ten minutes from the Grand Palais, which is why we can position a car in the 8th arrondissement at short notice even during preview days.

The Paris art fair calendar we cover

  • Art Basel Paris — October, Grand Palais. The busiest week of the year for the 8th arrondissement: VIP preview days, then public days, with satellite fairs and openings across the city every evening.
  • Paris Photo — November, Grand Palais. The photography fair that brings collectors, publishers and museum curators back to the Nave a few weeks later, with a quieter, more focused rhythm.
  • Art Paris — spring, Grand Palais. The spring fair of modern and contemporary art, with a strong French gallery presence.
  • PAD Paris — spring, jardin des Tuileries. Design and decorative arts under a tent in the Tuileries; drop-off on rue de Rivoli or place de la Concorde, a short walk from the 8th.
  • Salon du Dessin — spring. Old master and modern drawings, a collectors' rendezvous that pairs well with the Louvre and the Saint-Germain dealers in the same afternoon.

Getting to the Grand Palais during a fair — what actually happens

The Grand Palais sits between the Champs-Élysées and the Seine, with its main entrance on avenue Winston-Churchill facing the Petit Palais and a second access along Cours-la-Reine on the river side. On preview days the avenue is usually filtered or closed to traffic, and the square in front fills with taxis, shuttles and delivery vans. Our chauffeurs handle it the same way every time: they drop you at the closest point allowed that morning — the avenue itself when open, otherwise place Clemenceau or avenue du Général-Eisenhower — walk you to the queue if you wish, then move the car to a legal waiting spot rather than circling.

Timing matters more than distance. From the hotels of the 8th (rue du Faubourg-Saint-Honoré, avenue Montaigne, place de la Concorde) the drive is five to ten minutes, but at 11 am on a VIP day it can take twenty because of the drop-off queue. We therefore suggest leaving fifteen minutes earlier than you would on an ordinary day, or being dropped on the Cours-la-Reine side, which frees up faster. In the evening, when the fair closes and everyone leaves at once, your chauffeur waits on the Seine side and you message him when you reach the exit.

A day between galleries with your chauffeur

Here is what a typical hourly booking looks like during Art Basel Paris. Pickup at your hotel at 10 am, Grand Palais preview until early afternoon, the car waiting on the Cours-la-Reine side. At 2 pm, across the river to Saint-Germain-des-Prés: rue de Seine, rue des Beaux-Arts, rue Jacques-Callot, where galleries sit a few doors apart and the chauffeur waits at the end of the street. At 4 pm, the Marais — rue de Turenne, rue Vieille-du-Temple, rue Debelleyme — about twenty minutes from Saint-Germain along the quais, thirty in the evening. Then avenue Matignon and the auction houses on the way back to the 8th, and a dinner in the evening. Six to seven hours, one car, one chauffeur, no phone calls to a dispatcher.

If your list includes the large gallery spaces in Pantin or Romainville, count forty minutes each way from the Grand Palais and group them in one run. Send us your list the day before and the chauffeur will order the stops sensibly; last-minute changes are fine — that is what hourly hire is for.

Carrying a work home — accompanied transport in a van

Collectors often ask whether the chauffeur can take a piece they have just acquired. For small and medium formats, yes: a Business Van with the rear seats folded takes a wrapped canvas, a framed photograph or a boxed sculpture laid flat or wedged upright, with blankets and straps on board. The rule is simple — it is accompanied transport, the work stays with you. The chauffeur does not carry a work alone, does not leave it in a parked car and does not sign for it on your behalf. You travel with it from the gallery to your hotel, your apartment or your framer, and it is handed over in your presence.

For large formats, crated pieces, customs paperwork or anything that must be insured in transit, your gallery's fine-art shipper remains the right partner.

For galleries, advisors and auction houses

Exhibiting galleries book us for the practical side of a fair: an artist to collect at the airport, a director shuttling between the booth and the gallery, a journalist to bring to a lunch, a client to return to the Bristol or the Crillon after dinner. Everything runs on one corporate account with an itemised invoice per fair, per month or per client, so that costs can be re-charged where they belong. Discretion is part of the job: our chauffeurs do not comment on where they have driven you, do not recognise names out loud and do not photograph anything. If you want the same chauffeur for the entire week, say so when you book; we assign one person to one client whenever the planning allows.

Paris art fairs chauffeur — your questions

How do I book a chauffeur for Art Basel Paris?

Send us your dates, your hotel and the fairs and galleries on your list through the contact page, or call +33 1 53 26 04 33. We confirm the chauffeur and the vehicle in writing, usually within the hour. For fair week, book two to three weeks ahead: fair weeks in October and November are our busiest in the 8th arrondissement.

Can the same chauffeur take me to several galleries in one day?

Yes. Hourly hire is built for this: the car waits outside each gallery and moves on when you are ready. A typical afternoon links the Marais, Saint-Germain-des-Prés and avenue Matignon, then ends at the Grand Palais or at a dinner.

Will the chauffeur wait during a viewing or a sale?

Yes. With hourly hire, waiting time is part of the booking, so there is no meter running and nothing to re-book. Your chauffeur stays nearby, keeps his phone on and comes to the door when you message him.

Can you transport an artwork I have bought?

Small and medium formats travel with you in a Business Van, wrapped by the gallery, laid flat or wedged upright, never left alone in the car. It is accompanied transport: the work stays with you from the gallery to your hotel or your framer. For crated or insured shipping, the fine-art shipper appointed by your gallery remains the right partner.

Where does the chauffeur drop me at the Grand Palais?

As close as the perimeter allows on the day, usually on avenue Winston-Churchill or on Cours-la-Reine by the Seine-side entrance. During previews the avenue is often restricted, so we drop at place Clemenceau or avenue du Général-Eisenhower, a two-minute walk. Your chauffeur then waits at a legal spot and returns on your call.

What does an hourly chauffeur cost during the fairs?

79 euros per hour in Business Class, 109 euros in Business Van and 150 euros in First Class, two-hour minimum, 25 km per hour included. A half-day of galleries usually comes to four hours. Airport transfers are priced separately as flat rates.

Do your chauffeurs speak English?

Yes. Every chauffeur we assign to fair week speaks English and is used to international collectors, art advisors and press. Several also speak Spanish or Arabic; tell us your preference when you book.

Can the invoice go to my gallery or company?

Yes. We open a corporate account for galleries, advisory firms and auction houses, with one itemised invoice per month, per fair or per client, sent to your accounts department. A VAT invoice is issued for every ride.

Paris art fairs — good to know

  • Where: Grand Palais, avenue Winston-Churchill, 8th arrondissement — between the Champs-Élysées and the Seine, opposite the Petit Palais.
  • Who attends: collectors, gallerists, art advisors, curators, museum directors and press — a clientele that values a car that is there without being noticed.
  • Access: road closures around the Grand Palais change from day to day during previews; your chauffeur checks them the evening before.
  • Hotels: most fair-week pickups are in the 8th — Faubourg-Saint-Honoré, avenue Montaigne, Concorde — five to ten minutes from the fair on a normal day.

Our tip: one chauffeur by the hour for the whole week rather than a series of transfers — same person, same car, one invoice, and every change of plan is a text message.
