What a Burgundy wine day really looks like
Burgundy rewards those who slow down. The Côte de Nuits, running south from Dijon, is the cradle of the world's most sought-after pinot noir — Gevrey-Chambertin, Chambolle-Musigny, Vosne-Romanée and Nuits-Saint-Georges — while the Côte de Beaune adds both silky reds at Pommard and Volnay and the legendary chardonnay whites of Meursault and Puligny-Montrachet. At its heart, the walled town of Beaune and its glazed-tile Hospices make the perfect midday base. With a driver at the wheel you can compare a village appellation against a premier cru side by side, then move on without a second thought for the road. If you would rather keep a car and driver on call for part of the day, our hourly chauffeur service covers that too.
We shape each itinerary around your palate and your appetite: a morning of grand cru cellars, a Burgundian lunch of jambon persillé and a glass of something local, then an afternoon among the vines with a winemaker who has time to talk. Groups mix easily in our Business Van, and non-drinkers simply enjoy the scenery. Booking a private chauffeur to Burgundy turns a region famous for its confusing patchwork of tiny climats into an effortless, unhurried day — and if the tasting runs long, no one is counting the minutes to the last train.
What grape varieties define Burgundy?
Burgundy is built on two grapes: pinot noir for the great reds of the Côte de Nuits and Côte de Beaune, and chardonnay for the celebrated whites of Meursault, Puligny-Montrachet and Chablis. Your chauffeur can tailor the day to reds, whites or both.
How many wineries can we visit in a day?
Two or three cellar visits is a comfortable pace for a full day, leaving time to drive the Route des Grands Crus, walk Beaune and enjoy a proper Burgundian lunch. We book each appointment in advance around your preferences.
Is Burgundy suitable in winter?
Yes. Many domaines welcome visitors year-round and the vineyards are atmospheric in every season, while your chauffeur handles cold or wet roads. Harvest in September is popular, so we book well ahead for autumn visits.
