Why see the Emily in Paris filming locations by private car

The series was shot in real Paris streets, and fans who come looking for them discover one thing quickly: the locations are nowhere near each other. Emily's apartment is in the Latin Quarter, the agency is by the Palais-Royal, La Maison Rose is at the top of Montmartre, and the bridges the characters cross are spread along the Seine. On foot you would see one neighbourhood in an afternoon. By metro you would spend half the day underground and still miss the hill.

A private car links all seven locations in a single five-hour loop. Your chauffeur collects you at your hotel, sets you down a few steps from each spot, waits while you take your photos and keeps your bags in the car. There is no meeting point and no fixed departure: the tour starts when you want, from your door, and brings you back to it.

It is made for people who would rather not walk: seniors, travellers with reduced mobility, parents with young children in a pushchair, couples marking an occasion, and groups of four to seven who share a van. The chauffeur knows exactly where each scene was shot, including the ones that are easy to walk past.

Emily in Paris tour map and itinerary, stop by stop

Seven filming locations across six arrondissements, and a route between them that passes most of the Paris you have seen on screen. Here is a typical half-day from a hotel in the 8th; the loop works from any address in Paris. Legend: 📷 photo stop (you step out), ☕ café and 🥐 pastry where a break is worth it, seen from the car for what you drive past without stopping.

  • 9:00 — Pick-up at your hotel. Your chauffeur meets you at the door. Seen from the car: the Right Bank quays of the Seine, the Pont Neuf and the Île de la Cité, with the towers of Notre-Dame on your left, then Boulevard Saint-Michel up to the Panthéon.
  • 9:20 — Place de l'Estrapade, 5th. 📷 🥐 The quiet square behind the Panthéon where Emily lives. Photo: her blue door at number 1 and the fountain in the middle of the square, best from the far side with the whole façade behind you. Pastry: the Boulangerie Moderne at 16 Rue des Fossés-Saint-Jacques is the real bakery from the show; the pain au chocolat is the one to buy (open mornings, closed on Sundays). On the corner, Terra Nera is Gabriel's restaurant, a working Italian restaurant that opens at lunch. Allow thirty minutes.
  • 9:50 — Through the Latin Quarter. Seen from the car: the Panthéon's dome, the railings of the Jardin du Luxembourg along Rue de Vaugirard, the twin towers of Saint-Sulpice and the bookshops of Boulevard Saint-Germain.
  • 10:00 — Saint-Germain-des-Prés, 6th. ☕ Café: the terrace of the Café de Flore, 172 Boulevard Saint-Germain, where several scenes were shot. With five hours you can sit down properly: a coffee and a croissant at an outside table, thirty minutes, the most Parisian pause of the day. The old abbey church is across the street.
  • 10:35 — Pont des Arts, 6th. 📷 Down Rue Bonaparte to the river. Photo: from the middle of the footbridge, with the dome of the Institut de France on one side and the Louvre on the other. Ten minutes.
  • 10:50 — Along the Left Bank quays. Seen from the car: the Quai Voltaire antique dealers, the great clock of the Musée d'Orsay (a one-minute stop for a photo across the river to the Louvre if the light is good), the Assemblée nationale and the lawns of the Esplanade des Invalides.
  • 11:00 — Pont Alexandre III, 8th. 📷 The bridge the characters cross again and again. Photo: from the bridge itself with the gilded statues and the Grand Palais behind, or from the esplanade with the dome of Les Invalides at the end. Fifteen minutes.
  • 11:20 — Concorde and Place Vendôme, 8th and 1st. 📷 Seen from the car: the Grand Palais and Petit Palais, then Place de la Concorde and its obelisk. Photo: a ten-minute stop on Place Vendôme, the column, the jewellers and the Ritz where the characters drink their cocktails.
  • 11:40 — Palais-Royal and Place de Valois, 1st. 📷 ☕ 🥐 Seen from the car: the arcades of Rue de Rivoli and the Tuileries gardens. Photo: the small Place de Valois where the agency's office is filmed, then the black-and-white Buren columns in the Palais-Royal courtyard and the lime-tree alleys of the gardens. Café and pastry: Café Kitsuné under the arcades of the Galerie de Montpensier, for a coffee and a pastry to take into the gardens. Twenty-five minutes.
  • 12:10 — Opéra Garnier, 9th. 📷 Seen from the car: the Louvre pyramid through the Cour Napoléon gateway. Photo: the grand façade of the Opéra from the square in front of it. The Café de la Paix on the corner is the classic address for a pastry if you skipped the Palais-Royal. Ten minutes.
  • 12:25 — Up to Montmartre. Seen from the car: the Grands Boulevards, Pigalle and the red windmill of the Moulin Rouge, then Rue Lepic winding up the hill past the Café des Deux Moulins.
  • 12:35 — Montmartre and La Maison Rose, 18th. 📷 ☕ The car sets you down by Place Dalida, as high as the narrow streets allow. Photo: the pink façade of La Maison Rose at 2 Rue de l'Abreuvoir, taken from the bottom of the street with the vines of the Clos Montmartre on your right; then the Lapin Agile cabaret and, a few minutes further up, Sacré-Cœur and the view over all of Paris. Lunch: the fifth hour is for this. La Maison Rose is itself a restaurant (book ahead), and the cafés of Place du Tertre are two minutes away. An hour and a quarter on the hill.
  • Around 14:00 — Drop-off. Five hours after pick-up, at your hotel, or wherever your afternoon continues.

The order can change. If you are staying on the Left Bank we start at Montmartre and finish at Place de l'Estrapade. If stairs are difficult, tell us and the chauffeur drives you to the top of the hill rather than stopping below it. Prefer lunch at Terra Nera, Gabriel's restaurant? We run the loop the other way round and finish there.

Practical tips for an Emily in Paris tour

  • Mornings are quieter. Place de l'Estrapade and La Maison Rose draw a crowd from late morning. A 9:00 start gives you the square almost to yourself.
  • The restaurant. Gabriel's restaurant is Terra Nera, an Italian restaurant that takes bookings. If you want to eat there, reserve a table yourself and we finish the tour at its door; or start there and finish in Montmartre.
  • The bakery. The Boulangerie Moderne on Rue des Fossés-Saint-Jacques is a real neighbourhood bakery. It is open in the morning and closed on Sundays.
  • Private buildings. Emily's apartment and the agency are real offices and homes. You photograph them from the street; nobody goes inside.
  • Shoes. Montmartre is cobbled and steep, and the last stretch to La Maison Rose is on foot. Flat shoes make the difference.
  • Photos. The stops are long enough to set up a small camera, and the car keeps your bags while you shoot. Ask your chauffeur for the angle the show uses: he knows it.
  • With children. Five hours with a stop every twenty minutes is easy for most children, since they ride between locations rather than walk. Tell us their ages and we keep the stops short.

Walking tour or private car? The honest comparison

The Emily in Paris tours sold on the big platforms are guided walks. They are good, and cheap per person. Here is how they compare with this tour, so you can choose with the numbers in front of you.

Guided walking toursThis private car tour
Duration2 h to 2 h 30 per tour5 h, from your door and back
LocationsThe Latin Quarter or Montmartre: two separate tours, with a metro ride between themBoth, plus Pont Alexandre III, Place Vendôme, the Palais-Royal and the Opéra
WalkingAbout 2 h on foot per tour, standing in a group of up to 14Five minutes at most, up to La Maison Rose; the car waits at every other stop
Meeting pointA square in the city, at a fixed timeYour hotel, at the time you choose
GuideYes, with stories about each sceneNo commentary: your chauffeur drives, knows every photo spot and waits
Café, lunch, bags, rainNot planned; bags on your shoulderSit-down at the Flore, lunch in Montmartre, bags in the car, runs rain or shine
PriceAbout €42 per person per tour, about €84 for both€679 per sedan · €919 per van, about €131 per person when seven share it

If you want the history told as you walk and you are happy on your feet for two hours, book a guided walk. If you would rather not walk, want every location in one morning, or are four to seven people, the car is the better deal: it costs about what two guided walks cost per person, and it collects you at your door.

Where is Emily's apartment in Paris?

At 1 Place de l'Estrapade, in the Latin Quarter, a quiet square behind the Panthéon. It is a private building, so you see it from the square, where the fountain and the bakery scenes were also shot.
